Secretary to the Treasury Commends Judiciary on Progress of Construction of Appellate Courts

The Secretary to the Treasury, Mr Keith Muhakanizi, commended the Judiciary on a job well done to ensure that the construction of the Appellate Courts remains on course.

The Secretary expressed his optimism during a guided tour on the site of construction of the twin towers that will host the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal at the Judiciary headquarters.

M rMuhakanizi thanked the Secretary to the Judiciary, Mr Pius Bigirimana, for the tangible progress of the towers five months down the road.

He said some projects take years to bear fruit but that has not been the case for the construction of the Appellate Courts.

The PS/SJ reaffirmed his commitment to ensure that the buildings are completed. He said in the next five months, construction for the last floor of the Supreme Court tower would have commenced.

Additionally,construction for the Court of Appeal tower will be getting out of the ground so that by February next year, the two towers are up. Mr Bigirimana said by then,plastering for the Supreme Court will be complete.

Mr Muhakanizi said much as there are no funds now, the project will be prioritized, funds permitting.

Seyani Brothers are executing the construction of the seven-storied twin Appellate Courts buildings with two-basement floors and parking for 226 vehicles.

The Government of Uganda is funding the construction works, which are expected to be completed within 24 months, at the cost of sh 63.9b.
